In-Home Monitoring

Monitoring and Remediation of Cognitive Function

PI: Holly Jimison

Possible cognitive decline is a primary concern of elders and is a key factor in people losing their independence. Our work on monitoring elders’ computer interactions during use of a suite of adaptive computer games allows us to assess potential indicators of various aspects of cognition (memory, attention, sensory motor speed, etc.). Our algorithms use data collected frequently in a natural home setting, allowing us to detect individual performance trends and potentially provide earlier detection of cognitive symptoms. In addition, we are developing interactive adaptive computer games for cognitive skill building, using similar performance indicators to develop tailored recommendations for cognitive exercises.
